The most glamorous of careers often hide many a sad story beneath. Lolo Jones, who won the USA and the World Championships for hurdle events 2013 has reached this position through a great deal of dedication and perseverance. Jones was the only child of a five-child family as well as grew up living in poverty. Jones lived with her mom in the cellar at a local church. It was a life that required Jones to change schools and attend the same school each year up until her first day of high school. Jones moved away from her mom to Theodore Roosevelt to allow her to pursue the track she was interested in. She lived with different families during high school to be focused on her academics. Jones received an award called the Gatorade Iowa Track and Field Athlete of the Year award during her time at school. She also was a part of the school orchestra, being cellist. In the first year of college, Jones proved to be one of the most skilled hurdlers. She took home the 100 meter hurdles at the 2002 NCAA Track & Field Championship. Jones was also part of the second-placed team for the 100-meter relay. In 2003 and the year 2004, Jones was the winner of the hurdles indoor event at the NCAA Championship. Jones' track career started with the year 2005, after she finished her education. She began to train to build a successful track career. The same year, she won at the Torino Memorial event, and in the year 2206 she took home the Ostrava track event as and the Heusden track competition.
Growing up in Cape Town South Africa Brandt immigrated with her family to Auckland New Zealand in her early teens. Brandt was discovered by casting directors in her city and then landed the role of Naevia in the Starz smash Spartacus Blood and Sand and Spartacus Gods of the Arena.
